Letting the grief-dog sniff my ass.

Locking the well. Forgetting where the water is. Letting the water get locked at its source.

Shoes that are too tight.

When I can’t get the whiskers on the costume right.

No water in the closet. I will go where it’s dry.

When my old showgirls in costume are gone, I’ll need some guppies, some birds, some goats. If there is not enough bedazzled life around me.

The malediction did not work.

To get on the right side of my magic, I drew a circle and lit five candles, but the magic didn’t work.

Lack.

I am always driving over a bridge, crossing a highway, driving along a tarmac that shimmers and disappears in the sand. Through what night does this dream make its way?

The song leaves the throat but comes out as a croak.

The body gives way to the body. A sagging sack.

Everything I can kill.

Everything I cannot.

I could not find the richness in poverty, its clear beauty mark.

What I stole from acquaintances and friends.

To speak, to talk. To keep silent.

Throwing the book of my life out of my life like a limb chopped off.
